I have a transaxle that I would like to sell but need to identify first. I hope you guys can give me a little help. I received it as part of a trade. The trans. is definitely for a mid engine, has "V.W." markings, and a 914 casting#. The trans. is complete with all of the mounting brackets, switches, minus the clutch. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Does the shift rod mount to the side or the rear?

The shifter is mounted on the same side as the starter. A black bracket that is bolted to the trans is just above it.
