Hello,

I have a 76 914 2.0L and when I start the engine the idle sits perfectly at 1000 rpm for about a minute or so. After that the idle oscillates between 0 and 1000 rpm and sometimes causes the engine to shut off. After the car is warmed up the engine idles perfectly at 1,000 rpm.

I've made sure all my vacuum hoses are secure but aren't sure what to test next. Any ideas?

Is it still fuel injected?
And, are you talking about 1000RPM idle first start when cold?
