Gents,

Starting a GT Look project. Will be using suspension from a '79 911 SC and may go with 16 x 7 fuchs in the front and 16 x 8 in the rear. Obviously with flared fenders.

Looks like there are 2 types of factory 8" fuchs - 911 offset and 944 offset. What is the conventional wisdom as to which wheel I should be looking for, or does it really matter since I can use spacers?

Thanks for your advice.

On my 914 GT replica ..... I will be going with standard offset fuchs 7x16 fronts and 944 offset 8x16 on the rears. I think it looks much better!!

As much as I like a deep dish wheel, it just does not look right on a flared 914. In my opinion the deep 8x16 only look good on a 911.

These are mine - I went with 16x7 & 16x8 both in the standard 911 offset. You'll want spacers up front.

911 offset 16x7's and 8's work well with narrow fronts and SC flares out back.

I like the 16x8s with 944 offset because they 'look' like standard 16x7s .................... it will look like 7s all the way around ..... the same way the 916 has 7s all the way around (x15 of course) ............... I like the 'sleeper' look ..... smile.gif

I put 16 x 8 all around ,911 offset.
Looks like this: and it obviously ain't no sleeper look... smile.gif

Interesting - many different combinations here. I have 944 8s in front and 911 (of course) 9s in the rear...

I also just realized, this picture was taken immediately after it was rebuilt from the wreck. No center caps, no front grills. ugh!

Got some new pictures from this past weekend winery tour, but here is not the place to post...

As an option on wheels, when we first built Huey (pre-any Targa experiences) and before we had the Fuchs, I was borrowing a set of phone dials that came off a particular year 944 turbo ('86 I think?). 7 and 8 x 16. They actually look really good IMO.
