Steve, I see some stuff there on the L-side which could come off & clog in your sock, or if the sock has holes, then it goes to the lines, pump, FP Regulator & Injectors for big trouble! Plus you don't know what you cannot see in there, nor what gets worse than it is now. IMHO - I clean it out & refinish it properly, or have it done by a trustworthy shop (AA does them, but there's gotta a be a Porsche specialist here in SoCal/SD to do it).
Better safe now, than sorry later!

I had mine get worse over the winter, cold/warm, etc, and I had to pull the tank and did the POR15 3 step prep.
Don't have pics, but it looks all silvery and new inside. Cost me 50 bucks but a lot of labor to pull the tank and put it back in.
Took me a month, but it was worth it!
The next thing that happens is that the miniflakes you have get larger, and then they break off and start migrating on to the fuel system.

I've seen worse!
IMHO, use Metal Ready and NOT POR-15! It's unneccessary (POR), adds wieght & makes the fasteners difficult to refit.

Marine clean with hot water to degrease it, then Muriatic acid, then Metal Ready. Make sure each is washed out throughly with cold water. Inside tank will look close to new then. Make sure you use a respirator and chemical gloves if you decide to do the Muriatic acid step. I ended up doing that with one of my tanks and was very happy with the end result.

Yeah, this is exactly what I did about 7 years ago when I did my big restoration (car was finished about 5 years ago). That bare clean metal still seems to rust even with gas in it.
