Don't know what it is, I just turned it on. Vintage footage of Paul Newman, Bobby Unser, and an entire track full of 914s.

A couple of commercials back when I first posted this, there were literally a dozen or so 914s running around the track. I'll have to set up the Tivo box to record the replay later. It will be on again tonight at 11:00 MDT.

The program guide says 1968, but how could that be? The 914s were in the (according to the narration) 1st annual Ontario Celebrity Pro-Am race.

It's highly likely that Directv's program guide is incorrect.

Yeah that was a great 1 hour program. I believe it was called "The Wild World of Wheels". Great coverage of the Pro-Celebrity Race with the 914-6's. That particular race was held in September of 1970 at Ontario Motor Speedway. Part of the California 500 race week end. When some of the drivers were leaving the pits, you could see and hear them not being able to find first gear. Then said that Paul Newman's car lost it's clutch and transmission which left him stranded out on the track. I'm assuming the clutch cable broke. Great stuff!

Shots of Dodge Daytonas and Plymouth Superbirds contradict program info; while Daytonas were raced in '70 and '71, I believe the Superbirds were only available in '71. Roman numerals at the end of this film indicate a release date of 1971! Teeners aside, the movie seemed rather amateurish and the music was very annoying, even for the time period!

Kind of reminded me of "On Any Sunday" film wise...I can't remember, was Steve McQueen in that one?

CRAP! I was out working on the car last night! I even have cable in the garage! The kids were out there and had some stupid MTV thing on about some girl getting an enhancement for Playboy Magizine! I could have been watching 914 porn.

I've been looking for that footage for some time! That was a celebrity/pro-am race to inaugurate the opening of Ontario Motorspeedway in California, in '70.
I wonder what happened to all those 914-6's???
