I need to get a hold of the tie rod end boots, cant find them anywhere for the car. considering the age of the car 72 and assuming they are original is it worthwhile to pull the tie rod ends and just replace them?

I'd suggest you just replace the whole tie-rod end, OR better yet, get turbo tie-rods.

Check for some threads about which Turbo Tie-Rods to buy as the cheaper ones shed boots too quickly (get lemforder).
