kind of off topic, but car related.

looking for referances on someone local (greater San Fransisco Bay Area) that has expeirence building tube frame for mid motor small blocks (Porsche contect) will run with a 901 transmission is the plan

this is for a fiberfiab Valkyrie kit car that presently has a corvair transaxle, we want to move the engine back to give more room in the cockpit and upgrade to the porsche tranny (will be needing some different gears need an over drvie fifth gear)

want some one that can correctly set up suspension pick up points and mounts for the motot and tranny. possibly upgrade teh front end also.

not sure if this would envolve an entire new frame, or modifications to existing frame.

any leads are appreciated.

this should be a monster of a midmotor car, lots of power and very light

thanks

Bah, I returned to this thread to post exactly that! Damn.
(poke.gif Meant entirely in good fun, Dave!)

I was just checking out the frame design. I would think you could set this up for a unequal length tubular "A" arm setup in the rear and a 911 front easy enough without replacing the entire thing. Post some pics when you get started.

If you're looking for a good car builder call Art McQuery at AMAC Fabrication.
He's not local to the Bay Area (He's in Grants Pass OR) He is very good at custom fabrication. smash.gif welder.gif His number is 541-479-0421. Tell him I said Hi.

Tony @ TC Design?

In Milpitas, not too far away...been a while since I was at his shop, I was lead to believe he was redesigning the suspension of an Ultima he had there, no reason he couldn't help you with this project.

There was a guy at Carlisle this year that had a similar set-up to what you're describing. Valkyrie with SBC, 914 trans and 914 rear trailing arms. I don't recall how he did the rear shocks and didn't take any pics of the suspension - though I did crawl under the back to check out what he'd done. It was good looking car, lots of custom aluminum interior work - and obviously the custom work in the rear suspension. Check out the Avenger Valk forum - I recall seeing this same car on there:

Canepa Design in Scotts Valley. http://www.canepa.com/ The owner is a former Porsche race car driver, pikes peak champion. They build, prep and transport race cars. They also have a DOT approval program to certify 959's for street use with 650hp. They have a cool museum there too with bad ass cars. The place is AWESOME and worth a trip just to look at cars!
