Full Version: is there any reason to keep old piston & cylinders?

Hi All

Had to clean out an area where I stored some 914 parts that I got from the original owner when I bought the car.

There are original pistons and cylinders from the 2.0 rebuild done years ago.
The previous owner gave these to me and thought I should hang on to them.
These are worn P&C's. Not knowing any better, I took them.

Is there any reason to hang on to them or should I just toss them?

Same for the push rods, an old oil pump, one rear brake caliper and 4 brake rotors, rusty with lots of meat left on them.

This stuff is heavy and bulky.

What should I do with it all?

Thanks

Curt

Yes. At the very least the cylinders can be honed or bored and have value...

find a home hobbyist that does aluminum castings...the pistons are great for that !!!

I'm sure Eric @ PBM Performance would gladly pay for shipping to relieve you of the rear brake caliper so that it can live another day upon rebuilding smile.gif

Definitely save the cylinders. We can bore them for 96mm pistons. The O.E. German cylinders are superior to the aftermarket jugs.

we started using old piston and rod, mounted on a wood base to make a 'Piston Cup' style enthusiast of the year award for Carolinas Region. Came out great.
