Ken Shapiro - let's see how the responses come in. Zymurgists' 5 gallons usually holds enough for us. Other food 'goodies' are welcome too.
VaccaRabite
Checked with Erin - she has the date on her calendar, so my wife and son will be there. Its a trade off, as it may mean I don't drive the 914. See how things are when we get closer, if she does not mind driving.

Zach

Matt, the car is still together and running fine. If I get all the parts needed and swapped in time, I'll bring it down. chowtime.gif

Most likely will, but I am trying to take a 3 day class sometime in late August so hopefully that won't conflict. driving.gif 944 unsure.gif Better than the Vulva right ?

Very little beats Vulva ! piratenanner.gif

It's true. I've been flogging my Vulva pretty hard for about 6 years now and aside from a slight leakage issue a few months ago it has performed flawlessly. rolleyes.gif

So, the question is this.

Do we want to show up to Mike and Noels place in Western PA, knock on their door, throw burlap bags over their heads, toss them in the trunk of someones car and drive them to the Plasket's party or ECC? I'd say both, but I figure this is a stunt we can only do once, and the second time they call the police when they see us.

I'd be very careful if I were you Zach. Research has shown that burlap on a bald head has been known to cause uncontrollable sexual arousal and that said subject loses all thoughts of preference and goes after the first thing he sees. confused24.gif

I'm back from a week with Boy Scouts [gosh I hesitate to write that considering how this thread has 'drifted' off topic blink.gif ]. Thanks Zach, for keeping the thread icon_bump.gif 'd.

BBQ is still three weeks away but common you guys, save the date and come on over!

Oh come on. Its right in his signature!
But go check your GPS, you might find it there. I did.
besides. you have to come. Eventually I am going to feel bad about teasing you if I don't get to meet you in person.
Eventually.

I'm another of the newbs, and I'm probably doubtful at this point. The 914 isn't running (needs a fuel pump) and I would need to convince the wife to bring the kids, ages 3 1/2 and 1 1/2.

Just out of curiousity, what other age kids will be there? Might help me make the argument in favor...
kenshapiro2002
Oh...that little blue "Matt"? I know how to find Fredneck. When I get there I'll justv ask for "Matt who drives the weird little volkswagon".

Fuel pump can go in in an hour. Leave the wife and kids home...trust me...they need some time away from Dad. aktion035.gif

My 2yo will be there, as will my wife.
I brought him last year when he was only 1 and change and just barely walking. Even though it was pouring down rain, he dragged me to the pool and had a blast even though we were the only 2 people swimming.

its a fun party and family friendly. I hope to drive my 914, but if the trade off is not having my wife and son come, then I will drive the family car instead. Last time we were there, most of the males over the age of 4 all ended up in the basement having a pretty epic nerf dart gun fight. there was minimal breakage to people or furniture.

Kids of many ages will be playing.

Zach
kenshapiro2002
Oh yeah...if they're calling for rain, I'm out! Flame all you want, but this car is staying dry as long as I'm in charge her. poke.gif

Wuss. poke.gif

Drive a non rustable car if its raining. I will be.

The cars may be the reason behind how we all meet each other. But in the end, its the people that make it special. The cars are just the spark.

Rain is just Nature's way of washing the car and cleaning the wheelwells....
kenshapiro2002
The concept of "people" is incredible. The actuality often leaves much to be desired.I prefer cars and dogs.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD! biggrin.gif

Actually, these people are seriously good.
kenshapiro2002
I know they are, but no way I'm driving to Fredneck in the rain, in a Suzuki SX4, to sit indoors and eat potato salad. Hey...honestly has always been one of my problems! I wanna drive Pickle out there...see other 914s, have mine critiqued (+) and (-) to see what I need to do to her, and do some bonding as icing on the aforementioned cake. wub.gif

plas76targa
Ken (Shapiro), I didn't mention you cause you've already replied.

Last year it rained and we huddled OUTSIDE under the easy ups and had cigars and beer. Potatoe salid stayed indoors and lonely.

Zach - great idea to pressure Garvey. Pat you should caravan with Kevin Barnes.

who else can we "call out" now?

william1764, norustscott and brother, Andy (attended ECC at your place), evan b, casey914 (on dorkiphus), degreeoff, patrick2000 (Karl), root, svdubovsky (on dorkiphus), ....
zymurgist
firstknight13, degreeoff, ArtechnikA, jimkelly, slackin' at work, type11969, smdubovsky, angerosa, ghuff, okieflyr, root, Johny Blackstain, Rick L, Brian with the Amazing Flying 914 (can't remember the username)... some of these guys might be kinda far from Frederick though.
plas76targa
Good memory Ken. The only one's on that list that haven't been here before are ArtechnikA, Slackin, Ghuff, and Brian ...

to call out another name or two there's EVAN and his red 'little bean' car. Haven't heard from him in a l-o-n-g time.

How about a distance challenge - GEEZER914 from south jersey (my home town). you can make the trip it's about 2:20 from Salem.

I'll send direction via IM to those who need them (ya gotta ask tho')

I won't need directions but I will need an address.
Can't look a month into the future to see my availability but it sounds a lot more attractive to me right now than this year's ECC event that's transmogrified into something different.

An EZ Up will fit into either the Subie or the Titanic, if need be...
I've got a bunch of suspension stuff I want to do to the Titanic before taking it on a long(-ish) trip if possible, and I'd planned that over Labor Day weekend, but that's an arbitrary goal...

Gotta go look at a map to make sure I remember where Frederick is and map a route. Donno if it'd be just me for a daytrip or if Joy can make it. Either way, either vehicle, there'd be room for a couple of pax if someone from SEPA wants to carpool...

At the ECC, Saturday daytime consists of watching an AX, followed by an evening picnic that starts around 5.

If this event starts around 5, nevermind.
