I don't know what the Hell happened except when I clicked to post it said webpage had expired then I backspaced again and it seemed normal. Oh well. Here we go again. (I can't even edit my own damned post) I was trying to pull the headers off but I couldn't get a good pull on them so I took a 2' piece of 3/8" rebar, bent it into a semi "C" shape then cut off the remaining 1.5'. Hang the "hook" onto the header and insert a 2x2 then brace against the steel cross bar. I had plenty of leverage and it worked like a charm. The pic below will give you an idea less the cross bar. The pics are upside down.
