Anyone near Pleasanton have a tie rod spreader I can 'borrow'? Thanxs.

You mean a picklefork? I got 2 of them. Oh, and i'll probably have to go to San Jose tomorrow to see a sick relative, so i could meet you in Ptown.

pickle fork will work, however the right tool (if you don't want to destroy the ball joint) is this: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_0...ku=00996404000P

I have a small gear puller that pops tie rod ends off very nicely.
