keep reading comments about installing a short shift kit on my 914. get the idea its better then stock but wanted your thoughts. At AA and PP? tough to do? fire away...

It increases the velocity of the slider over the synchro band and shortens the life of the dog teeth because of the increased force of impact.

I say Porsche designed great cars
Start with new bushings front to back, make sure it is all "correct"
Then decide if you still want anything.
Mine is stock and GREAT

I had a Weltmeister kit in a car before, it was OK I guess. The Rennshifter is like Magic it is goood.

Well, at least with *this* thread we gave the PO the important information before we piled in the barrel and headed for the falls.
Keep it stock, or put in a Rennshift. its money, but it is money well spent.

Short shifters are good only if the rest of the components are in good shape. Otherwise the short throw hurries up the demise of the trans....
