Where can I find how to figure out the manfacture date
for the sign in left door hinge?

It says L041 and that is the color.
The other number is deliverydate.
Where can I check when it was manufactured ?

I can't find it here in 914world.
dr914@autoatlanta.com
in the left rear door jamb there is a DOT sticker with the month and year and if it is missing the code on the bottom of the rear trunk floor at the back where it meets the rear panel
Niklas
This is sticker was it not just for Us cars?

No I mean the sign "Karmann" on the front left door hinge.
It says the color and the manufacturing date.
It is black and approx 60x60mm

Andy gave you the decoder for the chassis number (use a 19xx calendar for the year it was actually made - usually a month or a few before it was first sold, week number there starts counting even with one day in it ~ 1/1/19xx), but just to be clear, that is not the "delivery date", but rather the date assigned to the chassis when the body was complete - more or less.

I say the latter because in my case the chassis number comes out to 8/31/72, & my US VIN sticker date is 8/72, but it's clearly impossible to have completed a 914 in one day from a body shell/chassis! Otherwise, mine is the fasted completed 914 in history! biggrin.gif

Delivery date from the factory or to a dealer should be several days to weeks after the chassis number date (or month +/- overseas to USA, Asia, etc.).

Ok Thanks Tom.

The car is 1973.

The sign says 1419509:

Week 14
Day 1
Body no 9 that day.

Thanks everybody.
