what have some of you used?
Silverstar
Sylvania
NOS Cibie
Bosch
Hella

what have you found that works well?
Not wanting to do any major changes, just something that might give a bit better enlightenment biggrin.gif

Hella H4

Thats what I have done ... works fine and took me ten minutes to replace,

Inexpensive H4's are available and with 55/60 watt bulbs stock wiring is fine.

I was at Pebble Beach a week ago and a guy there refinished headlights by putting a halogen bulb inside the original headlight, thus retaining the look of the original lens.

Sylvania Halogen, about $14 each at Wally World.

I have a pair of Euro H4's for sale with bulbs 50 bucks.
PM me if you are interested.

I have Sylvania halogen bulbs also. I picked them up at a local wrecking yard (while I was there) for a few dollars each. I dont know how I could see before!

great... smile.gif

where are you guys finding the Hella H4s? confused24.gif

Got mine from Pelican 3 or so years ago. I just went with the 50 watt bulbs, not the 100s.

With the Pilot driving lights and the H4s I do not need my high beams.

What ever you do, don't get the Ebay H4's. They "look" brighter, but I can't see a damn thing unless my pilot driving lights are on.

agree.gif however, they are still REALLY dim compared to my modern cars.

So much so, that I think it is time to buy some driving lights.

Either Hella or Bosch H4 with the Hi-Power Relays & 80/100 w bulbs - BusDepot has a deal on the Bosch ones (topic on here somewhere), but Hellas from PP, Pelican, AA aren't much more dough & per the Euro spec 914s too.

USA DOT didn't allow non-sealed beam back then since GE, Westinghouse, Sylvania, etc. had strong lobbyists! dry.gif

Dan - contrary to the others on here - IMHO 55/65 w are too dim at speed on a windy road or out in the country with our 914s, and with the addition of the hi-power headlight relay kits for the higher power bulbs, the stock wiring should have no problem. shades.gif

Different headlights on my 88 Westy (rectangular), but the 80/100 bulbs + relays made a HUGE difference in what I could see at night! blink.gif

I wished I had them in the Westy last Sept. up in Bolinas Bay area! dry.gif
