My 914 was originaly Gemini Blue. Unfortunatly it has since been painted yellow twice and then black. Years ago I was going to change the color to the early metalic blue L98P. Well, 6 years later and after a lot of welding I'm considering other options. I tried to match the Gemini Blue, but the paint shop didn't have a mix code for it so I tried to match it to a genaric PPG color. I think it was biscane blue that was the closest as far as I could tell. Any thoughts or advice? The car is by no means perfect, but I like the idea of sticking with a VW (German at least) paint color. I took the pictures in a few diferent places to try and get a good average. The dark blue is the early metalic blue while the light blue is Gemini. In the decklid hinge it my attempt at a match.

Look here - PPG & Glasurit both have classic color code matches -

This one should really be a nailed thread so everybody can find it before resorting to the local DA paint shop guy's limited choices & efforts! dry.gif

I used 2-Tones on my last race car - Minerva (930 Colour) and Cobalt Blue (993/Boxster color)

That's some great info on that link. Unfortunatly I run it to the same problem I had at the paint shop. They didn't have the formula so they couldn't mix it up. I was pretty disapointed to be honest. I may end up trying a different paint shop, or just using this 'other' blue.

The formula can be had by any PPG dealer. He just has to pick up the phone if he doesn't have it on his computer. The PPG color code for gemini blue is 2373. It is only available in a single stage though. BTDT. If the shop is really good they'll color match it for you in 2 stage.

agree.gif Thanks for the link. Funny thing is today I was looking for the card the paint shop gave me with the PPG color code for Zambezi. I lost the thing. I found it in the link.

I can only get 914 colors in Spies and Glasurit ( haven't tried ppg )

Dupont has no codes for it, and in Spies it is listed as a VW color. So if anyones local shop can't locate the code under Porsche, have them look for it under VW.

I could find the PPG code no problem. I think it was an Audi/VW listing. The shop couldn't get a formula for it. I think it's time to look other places. Where do I get Spies or Glasurit?
