I have a couple of side mirrors and have a some questions.

The shell is not magnetic so I assume aluminum. Is it anodized like the windshield
trim ? Or can I just buff it back to a shine ?

Sizes - 5 1/4" and 5 1/2". What years were the different sizes ?

Two of the 5 1/2" mirrors have "III TP RT210" stamped on them and the 1 on my '73
does not. What does III TP RT210 mean ?

Those are part nos., my 73 had that no., as do the 2 new ones I got from Porsche last year.

A true pass/right side mirror has a very slight convex to it - if it's a proper factory right side mirror, but the housing is still "upside-down" for that part no. on the housing btw! huh.gif

70-early72 MYs had slightly smaller mirrors with a sharp 90 degree angle arm, whereas later72-76 have a more rounded 90 degree bend at the arm. The base& arm are a cast or pot metal IIRC, & IIRC the housing is SS - which is also non-magnetic (or barely so). They can be re-chromed & polished - respectively to each material.

Good link. Thanks Tom

The 5 1/2" mirror that came on my early '73 does not have the part # stamp.
