I replaced a set of rivieras with a set of pedrinis to be correct for my '72. Ever since I have had a 60mph vibration. Bought another rim which was bent too. I cannot afford to keep buying bent rims. Anybody know a place that can straighten these things out? Prefer close to Knoxville, TN so I can drop them off. But if need be I will remove tires and ship.

I've used a long handled sledgehammer (BFH) and a piece of hardwood to protect the surface on my Audi wheels. I've straightened 8 of them so far.

I use a micrometer on the inside of the wheel and mark the high spots.

I stand of the rim and give it a couple whacks with the BFH with the hardwood in between, and remeasure. Repeat until dents are gone or minimized.

You should be able to find someone under "wheel straightening" in the on line yellow pages. There of course are several outfits here in Atlanta if you get in a tight for a place.

Wonder if Weidman does it. He's a Porsche guy, and super nice ( both of them ) and his work is perfect.

Sure your wheels are bent? Is your 60mph vibration front or rear? I had a 60 mph rear vibration...rebalanced my Rivierias several times- still there, swithed to Mahles with much better tires - less but still there. installed a set of Racer Chris's hub centering rings - no vibration!!

Ok, found a guy from alloy wheel specialists about 15 minutes from my work. I am meeting him tomorrow. He said he can put the wheels on his machine to see if they are bent. So I will see tomorrow!

Did you see my left front 5 lug Fuchs wheel after the encounter with the rock at WCR 2010? Weidman Wheels 'could' straighten that. Instead, I am making a clock out of it. Call Harvey at 1-530-534-7903

Success! The dude was set up in a trailer. Met him near my work and about an hour later I was heading to the balance shop. All I can say is..

WOW! What a difference.

That's good news as I have a few bent wheels. Do you have any before/after pictures and what did it cost you?

Sorry no before and after pics. Two of the wheels were obvious bends visable to the naked eye. The other three wheels were also bent but needed the mic to verify.

He asked for $100 to do all 5 but I only had $73 on me. Not bad for an hour work with a hammer!

Sorry, but along these lines I googled wheel repair (turns out there are many) and one was a youtube link. Neater than . Several shorts showing the actual repairs. What is F'n amazing is the, shall we say "technical diversity" in which the wheels are repaired. Worth the view for inquiring minds. And yes, there is a sledge hammer video, too!
