That is broke.....looks like it will buff right out though!
brant
ouch...
was it an over -rev?
what happened

I'd be willing to bet that your initial issue was a seized valve.. Breaking stock rockers is a VERY hard thing to do!
Since you also lost the retainer I'd say you need to do a leak down test to ensure you don't have secondary collateral damage.

Less than 500 miles. & yes, I may have over-rev'ed it a bit...

"secondary collateral damage"? Keep an eye on on your bank accounts - make note of any inordinate leakage.

I'd not be over-revving an engine with those stock retainers..

Looks like you better nupgrade the valve train before you have a nasty experience...

To break a rocker at the adjuster end is very difficult, most break on the opposite end where valve spring tensions are multiplied by rocker arm ratio.
Don M
often broken rockers are a warning sign of loss of control of valve train, most often due to insufficiant spring pressure for the demands made on the engine. look into this aspect and cure it if necessary, left unchecked it's likely a dropped valve is in your future.

It seemed like a good idea to tear down my 'old' engine for the experience before I tear down my New engine that I found the broken rocker arm in.
