Thats incredible!!! Great car!!!

Nice to know there are people oout there willing to throw away that much cash for absolutely no reason. $140k to build? You could have had a 997GTRS with money left over for spares and race support for a full season.

I'm not driving around the ring, and I doubt the future owner of this car will either. Guy's build these toys more as an ego trip. IMHO, the smarter ones, buy a track proven car that has already competed in the series at the level you want. Every year, at the close of the series, half the guys sell their cars to get a slightly better one. All you want to do is be a couple of years behind a really good racer. Buy his car after he puts it on the podium a few times.

I learned the hard way too. I spent $35,000 to build a spec racer that I could have bought for $20,000, then I sold it for $18,000.

So the next racer I bought was just finishing the season, Engine rebuilt and refreshed I bought it for half of what it would have cost to build. And I had more fun with that car because I knew it was a race winner.

I noticed some collars bolted to the inner cv joints. Is that incase the cv fails and the axle doesn't flop around causing lots of damage?

I saw this car last summer at a PCA swapmeet at the shop. Full blown racer fast looking sitting still. Clay was there too. Don't know if he knows the car or owner. He might add some info.

I didn't see them in the pic, but yes, thats what an axle collar is supposed to do. CV failure contained, wheel stays "relatively on". Same as a drive shaft hoop on a drag racer. But that is stop the shaft from piercing the floor boards when the universal joint fails. Same theory,

sorry.. but absolutely beyond a doubt the 914 is not faster at the ring..
I love teeners, but they are not better designs than the modern cars in terms of all out suspension design. Vintage cars will always be my preference, but they don't hold up to modern technology as racers.

I this really mike floyd's car?
how cool... when did he build this
and what happened to his -4 vintage racer and -6conversion car.
