The center console in my 72 has had the seams repaired by the PO using black electrical tape. Looks OK in the dark, but crappy in any amount of light.

Has anyone ever recovered their console? Just how difficult of a job would this be?

Cut some vinyl out in a pattern and run it through a sewing machine. It won't look 100% factory but it will look damn good.
