Wondering what my 74 2.0 with fuel injection is worth. Compression numbers 145, 155, 160, 160. Engine is now out of the car. Has all fuel injection components, blue coil, deep sump. It's dirty but a good runner. Any thoughts?

i'd get together with Philip W who is another poster on this website, he made a recent inquiry to how to best economically fix his busted otor (dropped valve seat) He is entertaining the possibility of buying a used running motor. maybe you guys can make a deal benifical to both? see his post about cost to fix a motor with a dropped seat and contact him.

good luck on the sale

Well IMHO, that 145 out of 155-160 makes me think it's about ready for valves &/or rings, or will be soon (115-135 will be the sure sign). Ergo it's value will be at the lower end of the above range as a core to be rebuilt now/soon, even if it gets a few more miles of use before then.

how fast do you need to sell the motor?
That will surely determine value.

For a core, $500 is what I personally think is the top end.
I figure they are either ready to be rebuilt, or the need to be rebuilt right now..either way, a used motor has risks...

I would agree that $500 would be about right with all the fuel injection parts, matching MPS and brain, etc.

Then again, good luck finding a buyer with $500 these days... Things are only worth what someone has the cash to pay for.

We are years into the 2nd Great Depression in case you didn't notice... Now back before 9/11 things were different.
