I haven't posted for some time but I thought this little project might be interesting
enough to thread.... I'll show the work on it so far then follow-up as I finish.

To start I glass bead blasted some 2.0L heads (VW-039 101 371A) in prep
for valve re-work and deck skimming. They are going on the TIV bike I'm building.
Here's a pic of the bike.

I'm getting ready to replace the mock-up engine that's
on it now with a rebuilt 2.0L using these heads.

When I removed the copper exhaust manifold gaskets I found that one of the four
sealing surfaces was damaged, question marks in the pic below. I don't know what
caused this as I don't know the history behind these heads.

Today I tig welded the 2 damaged areas. welder.gif

I'll post pics after I finish machining the sealing surface on the Bridgeport.

Awesome! Looks like someone put a lot of miles with an exhaust leak.

What transmission are you going to use on the bike? Any thought to a less obtrusive carb set? I think what you are doing is really cool and should run pretty hard with T4 torque. I would love to see that in person some time, If your location tag is correct, than I will have to try and come by as if I remember correct Alexandria isn't too awfully far.

So glad to see you kept going...what a cool bike.
I love the carbs....sweet to see them.

Take a few pics from the side...and some of the early frame pics...you made some really cool stuff.

Say Hi to your wife and please ride that thing up to Hershey this year...a good goal.

hope you can keep it cool. you'll need lots of airflow to do so.

O.K.! Here's a pic of the exhaust port seat after milling, dremel work, sanding etc....

I used an old copper ring gasket to check the fit!
Now it's off to the machine shop for valve work and deck check!

Here's a pic of the bike before suspension was completed, sitting next to Blackie.
As you can see the air bag is deflated (as low as she goes)!

Here's a more recent pic without the carbs.
I took this just before I finished the tank and left side.

Thanks Scotty! Just been way busy at work. screwy.gif
Sometimes I don't get to the bike project for weeks at a time.
I have 2 full time machinist running a CNC turning center and a CNC
vertical mill. I'm hiring a 3rd machinist/welder next week.
Check out the 'crazy' part we just made! www.matsys.com
