Brand new to this forum - Hi from Centennial, Colorado. I recently came into a 1970 914-6. It has a 3.0 litre Porsche engine, short shifter, I think, and is otherwise stock, I think. The car has been in my family since new and was my fathers. It has been 'restored' once, don't know by whom (my Dad had it done in the 90's.) I'm looking for info on Colorado 914 activities and people who can help me value the car. Trying to attach a pic (I don't have many yet but will get more this Spring or whenever the snow melts.)

That is an incredible sweet 914, value is priceless it is part of your family, your fathers. Looks like $30,000.00 but others whom own 6's will have better input.. welcome.png

You are more than right about the first part. It has emotional value in excess of its material worth. The fact that its not stock hurts the value though, right? Happy new year btw!

Now about the value. I have seen some real nice (modified) car sell for more a real cherry stock one. I think the value is not affected by having the motor being replaced. There is added value to having the original motor to go with the car. But the cars that I have seen that sell for more than 30K were not numbers matching cars.

Great looking car and very cool to have that pass down through the family smilie_pokal.gif

There are many Colorado guys on this forum and I'm sure they'll chime in.

Congrats on the car, Happy New Year and

Be sure the VIN is added to the registry on this site. That is one sweet car and having a 3.0 in there doesn't have a huge impact on the value. It's the VIN that counts in your case. Enjoy.

Thanks to all who have chimed in. I'll post some more pix in a while - they re not great but perhaps enough to get the idea. I put the VIN in when I registered but maybe I did it wrong....so here it is again: 9140431927.

smile.gif that's a nice thought... just bought a Cooper S, needed 4 seats to get kiddos to School ect. Only way I could swing a teener right now is if I sold the Carrera, nobody's offered me 100k yet laugh.gif

Thanks Ferg - I look forward to getting with you guys one of these months. I'm interested in your thoughts on valuation for insurance. Here is another pic.

Collector Insurance for sure... I've used Hagerty for years, no claims but I really like the service/people.

Great thanks I'll look them up. Do you deal with a Porsche specialist who assigns a value to the car, or do they ask me how much i want to insure it for?

welcome.png Nice 6.

As Ferg said, click the Colorado-914 image link in my sig if you'd like to sign up for our local email list.

Hagerty asked how much I wanted to insure for I gave them information as to what was done to the car and they agreed on the value I proposed. If the car is as clean and straigh as the pics suggest they probably would not argue a $30k policy.

agree.gif as long as you have a garage and a daily driver for yourself/wife, you should be good. Some limitations on driving (home depot, work ect) but otherwise pretty easy.

I have my 914 GT clone with 3.0 and 911SC both insured with Grundy for 30k each agreed value........very reasonable.
