I did same and found through investigation that Wahler (factory manufacturer) thermostats for different engines range on a operating temp. the variation is only 10 deg. celcius ( 65c-75c is the one your looking for, anything higher is well a bit higher operating temp ect) orso no matter what you can get one new that works.. that being said, I just hunted and foudn the one for porsche type iv,, in fact my 914 brother I just spent 2 mintues and found a stock load of new ones your looking for same part # everything.. at samba vw link below... also another good site for learning and some porsche 914 parts that are htf and or the vw same is german supply, link below... the 3rd is a direct for the thermostat so you do not get lost but if I were you I would peruse the first link to see if you can find a better price.. good luck and pay it foward.. joe

If the shift rod you're looking for is the one that runs through the tunnel I've got one. Not sure if there's a difference but I'm pretty sure it's from a sideshift. At your door for $20.
