I haven't tried this yet myself, but this guy makes it look super easy. Zip tie partially melts into the braid during cutting thus holding all those nasty frayed wires. No tape goo to clean, no bloody palms, etc.

Harbor freight just had a coupon on that grinder for ~50 bucks. I really like the Tie Wrap idea.

Duct tape, masking tape & a cut-off wheel. Advantage is that you mark the tape with a pencil / pen and as you thread in the inner portion of the AN fitting you can see if the hose is being pushed out of the housing.
Oh well ... just really old school.

Or spend $30 on a hose cutter from Jegs or Summitt and have clean cuts that take all of 5 seconds to make.
But I guess melting zip ties and cut off wheels work too. Takes longer though.
I tried the chisel methode. Then I bought the hose cutter. Life is too short for that kind of frustration.

I like the zip tie method, thats a new trick for me. Once you get a long cutoff tool you wonder how much time and frustration you have avoided on cutting in hard to get to places and wierd things needing cut that were made simple. I use only the 1/16 thick wheels in mine. My first one was a present from a friend that's a professional restorer. I bought a reversable one for a backup but haven't taken it out of the box yet.
