About to send a batch to powder coat, my question is, how much do I have to 'take-down' the ridges on the lower covers?

Thanks McMark

I had used the search, and found a thread from 03' but I guess the pictures had expired or something. I think i ran a slightly similar search, but only found about 10 threads.

Mo,

First of all, thanks for the picture. That looks like it's just the drivers-side valve cover, the rear half?

Enrique, did you get my PM? If I'd known you had this thread going I would have just put it here. I'll do it now anyway. CYA! bye1.gif

Hey man!

There isn't a real measurement. All of these cars are different, so each motor will require a different amount of trimming of the lower valve covers if you're using turbo units. John Larson (Capn Krusty) says that the later SC covers will work without any trimming at all. Basically you need to shave the ribs of the lower covers at the rear of the motor so they will clear the suspension console ears when R&R'ing the motor.

This is a great thread.

Thanks guys! And especially you Gint. This is why I love this site!

I was at the shop late last night and had access to the machines, so I really wanted to crank these out. I'll post some pictures soon.
