Will any 4 lug wheels fit 914? I need temporary wheels while I'm working on the car. So, anything for $10 from local junk yard will do, I just need to know what to look for (corolla, sentra, civic, escort) - anything?

The most common fitting wheel would be from the VW Beetle. It’s not the right offset so it could rub if your car is lowered. The ideal wheel would be from the VW Karmann Ghia or the Type 3 (Fastback, Squareback and Notchback) but they are not so common in junk yards anymore.

Nothing from anywhere but Germany will fit, and even that is limited as damesandhotrods outlined.
If you weren't all the way across the country, you could have the set of steelies in my back yard for a song.
For that matter, the offer's open to anyone on the board that can sing.

Rivieras. Bruce has millions of them (slight exageration)

Four-bolt Bug wheels or 914 steel wheels are probably your best bet. Post a WTB (Want To Buy, or Want To Borrow) in the classifieds section, or just ask here if someone will loan you a set of steelies.
None of the commonly available (Honda, Toyota, Chevy, whatever) will fit the 914. The bolt pattern (4x130mm) is an odd one that only VW and Porsche ever apparently used.

beetle wheels or 914 wheels.
If you can get up here, I can give you a set of old steel wheels.

I have a set of Karmann Ghia wheels with tires that hold air. Come on down and have them for free. Or trade for some 914 gizmo. Cost you gas money and half a day's driving.

oh, I forgot.
Contact Rmital (Ray) and ask him.
There is a guy in NJ with a large collection of both cars and parts...all project level stuff, that he is trying to get rid of.
Do a bit of hunting here and on the 914club.com site.
You can find Ray over there more than here.
He knows the guy.

Thank you Rich,
I might take you up on your offer. My family lives in Shrewsbury, MA. If i don't get anything by the time of my next visit I'll give you a shout.
I remember Ray's post about "flock of 914s", but I believe that the seller wants to do package deal and get rid of everything in one shot.
Thanks,
Mike
PS. Will VW Rabbit wheels work?

Mike,
I've got a ratty set of EMPIs you are welcome to borrow. They even have tires...with air in them and all. PM me and we'll dig them out of the barn.
