I just installed new pads and rotors.I was told to set pad clerance at 8.000.
when set at 8.000 do you still here a little drag on rotors or is it pretty much not touching the rotors at all.
Will new rotors and pads run a little hotter at first then break in or should they not heat up at all.
also is the 8.000 critical or would it hurt to set a little loose?

0.008 is 0.004 per side on each caliper. I use 0.003 per side for a total of 0.006 and the pads do not rub the rotor IF the rotors are not warped.

You can actually feel the difference in brake pedal travel if you set them loose.

If they are set to close, you could feasibly have the pad dragging on the rotor.

Eric will chime in and tell you I set them to close for his comfort.

Workshop manual (and probably other manuals) describe adjusting the "venting clearance" on the rear calipers (no adjustment on front). The spec is 0.2 mm between the pad and the rotor. Also, as an aside, it states to use a 4mm allen head to remove the cover (if factory) over the inboard adjusting screws.
