Yes, after I decided to upgrade my seats to 964 seats I needed to re-locate the e-brake handle. I ended up buying a 964/993 handle and console and mounted it between the seats.

The hardest part was having to fabricate new cables. It is a long story but basically, you will need two good passenger side cables to start with and then you need to heavily modify them.

my car is a 70. i think i will upgrade to the later style one piece e brake found on later cars.i hope this works.i just bought the short equalizer cable, right, and left cables, and the newer style e brake.my old brake handle assembly was kaput.

Easy to do using all off the shelf Porsche parts. 2 right side (long) 914 parking brake cables, 914 rear calipers and center tunnel mounting. Just need to fabricate the base like this guy did and locate two holes in the firewall to run the cables . No modifying cables needed.

In the custom car world people have used linear actuators to pull the cables and lock the brakes when there is no room for a lever. You could always try that.

for now i am going to install the newer one piece e-brake in the stock location.my 70 914 had a two piece unit.

Hmmm, that's really interesting how that base was fabricated. I wish I had seen that thread before I undertook my project. I ended up drilling two holes in the firewall, backed by fender washers, and heavily modifying the two passenger side cables for a custom fit.

In any event I think the base fabrication is a better solution, especially if stock cables fit.

The base is 11-1/4 X 3-1/8 (5/8 thin wall square) . Really light weight.

The base was made to raise the handle assy just high enough to clear the floor crossmember hump when in the down position. Plenty of room behind the shifter too. It will sit offset on the tunnel to the left side. Balance and slack adjustments easily done just behind the lever.

The 914 cable ends (interior side -look like little stirups) lock right into the half moon block with no mod needed.

Enough room for the cables to make an easy bend at the firewall, run across the inside of the firewall to each long and out. The exit route will have a firewall grommet seal like this on each side.

Can easily fab a trim cover over the top to make it sano.

If you notice the photo with the trailing arm close by the cable was connected to the caliper for test fitting.

That's awesome. I feel like re-doing mine on principal, just because I like your system so much better.

Oh well, I ended up welding my 8mm nuts to the floor pan, so I guess I'll have to live with it.

I see you are in LA also, what area? If you need some moral support on your project or want to lend some support on mine I am in the Woodland Hills area.
