I need to fix the fan in the airbox. It stopped working.
Can I remove it somehow without pulling the fuel tank?

No, and putting the airbox back in after the repair is a PITA. Don't omit the rubber seal around the top, where the box meets the cowl. You may find it easier to fashion a bracket to help with the reinstallation of the airbox, because it's hard to fit back into place. Some leverage helps. Takes lots of muscle and patience.

Are you sure it's the fan? The slide switch on the dash is a common source of trouble. Make sure theere is power to and from that switch.

Good luck.

The slides on the dash switch are corroded up copper..just like a bad ground.

Hope that's all it is.

Unfortunately, I started with the switch cleaning. I also cleaned the connector to the fan.
Still, it barely moves only sometimes on the highest speed.

If I have to pull the fuel tank, I won't touch it. sad.gif

Sounds like this is a big job. I wanted to take the grill out to clean off the layers of paint. Might go low on my priority list for a while.

Pulling the fuel tank is the easiest part of the job.

YA pulling the tank is quite easy. Working under the cowl is another story.
