Found this in the stash of 914 parts I acquired a few years ago. Looks like a Dansk 1.7/1.8, however the exhaust pipe seems to be on the wrong side. Is this indeed a 914 muffler?

I agree. I think that depression in the back is for the oil fill tube and dipstick under the license plate.

It seems to be all that is left if you want a close to stock system on a 914.
there is a u pipe and long middle pipe, then tail pipe you can buy to make it fit on a 914 also...

Ok. Just found a photo of this muffler now that it has been identified as a bus muffler. Looks like it's an Ernst Transporter (early '70s) and not a Dansk. Thanks everyone.
