I'm looking for a gray loop (not perlon) carpet set for my 74 914. I know I can buy an aftermarket kit for $100.00 to 250.00 depending on who makes it. But I'd like an original OEM set in good condition if someone has one.

Thanks.

Assuming that's your OE interior color Greg, the OE loop pile carpet would've been either #504 Tan or #503 Dark Tan - & that will look much better with the beige seats than grey (or even if it's an aftermarket reupholstery). My 73 2L has the OE Beige interior with Dark Tan (tan & brown speckled) OE loop pile & the OO/PO had put grey L & R floor sections in there when I bought it in 75 - & they just didn't look good IMHO (aside from not matching the rest of the interior).

See the sample pix for 72 or 74 here:

World Upholstery has some good aftermarket German loop pile in tan & dark tan (not exact OEM), because the OEM carpets in all but black/grey are NLA. You can request samples from them, which were a close match for my Dark Tan.

There is also this Belgian company that sells 914 carpet kits (detoxcowboy on here got one in grey & installed in his 74 2L which looked pretty good when I saw it):

AFAIK there is no more OEM loop pile out there in any color, but a few folks & AA may have some NOS pieces - but probably not a full 11 piece set. Next best alternative is a German or Imported Loop Pile, as the Domestic carpets apparently wear much faster.

Hi Tom. Actually, the gray carpet is for another 914 I'm working on. I will check out the links you sent.

Thanks for the help!
Steve
I just bought the Auto Atlanta Charcoal Gray loop carpet kit. It retails for $245.00. I will sell it for $100.00. AA says its the closest thing to stock..... http://www.autoatlanta.com/detail.php?Part...al_number=12319
I keep changing my mind on carpets... I think I am going to go with the black cut pile.

If you want authentic 914 carpet that will last for years and years.. the 911 guys know about this place.. when I installed it I knew right away the quality was 3 times the kits in the u.s. at least.. It has actually gotten better with use not worse.. it breaks in and starts to feel and appear mote orignal than when freshly installed..

I burned through domestic loop 3 times in 3 years, it will wear fast.. grant it it may have only worn hard where I rested my feet but still..

The anthercite (salt and pepper) is like dark charcoal grey, and what they call velour is heavy duty wool like or is it wool? I do not know but it is HD for sure, In fact I sold my new COCO MAts after getting this carpet, no mats required for protection, they actually hide the over all beauty..

Install is a bit tougher than your 914 domestic kits because of the thickness and quailty, you will have to work hand/fist and glue to shape it in, right there is your sighn of your installing a quality meant to last carpet..

oh and they take PAYPAL!
