I'm having a slight problem installing the firewall bushing/oval-metal-piece.

My car is an early car with the 'oval' around the hole where the shift rod exits. I can't mount the bushing as it won't lay flush to the firewall.

Anyone else have this problem? Do I need to cut the 'oval' because if so, I'm installing a original /6 mount, and now is the time to do it!

Yes, you need to cut a little to fit the bearing.
