New bearing in.

I'm waiting on the clutch kit and flywheel bolts in UPS tomorrow.

More to follow. All 986s built between 1997 and 2005 need this retrofit. I'm going after this market.

$2000 each, including the bearing for a manual transmission Boxster.

Guess who designed that tool you are using :-)
And perfected the extraction process too!

Nice pics Joe; what is the problem with the IMS bearing and what does one see whan it goes bad ?

I picked up a low milage '98 986 last year, currentlu 45K miles. Curious as to what to expect.

RMS was dry and clean. And, I don't have the tool yet. So, no.

Buy the kit and do the change. The failure numbers are too high.

How long did the change out take and how much time do you think you'll knock off once you've done it a couple times?

It's a two-day project. A one-day delivery is certainly possible, but I'll need some more experience.

I've already decided that a manual-transmission 986 will be $2000, LNE bearing included. The Tiptronic will probably be more, but I won't know how much more until I do one. The first one will be $2000, too. I'll need the experience first.

Clutch and RMS are extra.
