Full Version: TAC doesn't work

Fired up "222" today after another extensive check to be sure everything was right.

Pressure lubed the bearings (2 quarts) then drained the excess.

She fired right up and immediately had 80psi of oil pressure.

Fuel pressure went right to 70psi, which is right.

Only thing that didn't work is the TAC.

In my car there is a yellow wire coming out of the Mallory CDI which goes to the TAC to provide the signal. I check continuity again and it confirms.

The other wire on the TAC is a ground which has continuity to the chassis.

So where do the wires go, i.e., ground and signal? Or maybe I'm missing a wire??

Come on JP, just trying to get things back in order.

And of course you're right, I've never looked at the TAC and will need to move the shift light someplace new as I really didn't see it. Funny, but that's how it is when your concrentrating on other things.

Anyway here is a diagram I found on the web, tied to Pelican:

Looks to me like my 1 (his 11) is 12V, 2 (his 12) is the sending wire and 3 (his 13) is the ground. Now if this is right no wonder mine didn't work.

Would sure appreciate a confirmation.

I guess i'm too late to the party, but yes, the Tach also needs 12V ... smile.gif

Thanks Andy. Sometimes the wiring diagrams don't help when you are running a different system, like mine.

Although this one would have been easier if I'd had my reading glasses on and carefully checked the back of the TAC.
