Google translate:

This vehicle is one of two known 914 / 6 Sportomatic prototypes. This is also mentioned in Wikipedia with the chassis number 914 120th On the vehicle prototype many new parts, which differ in the series. It was first used by the Porsche factory for testing and later acquired by an engineer of the Porsche factory to private. This vehicle was allowed only up to 08.20.1979 and since then was a collector. The Porsche has to be restored yet.

It's been for sale for at least the last 10 years.

A real prototype /6 and a sport-o-matic at that!

Missing just a few parts too!

Wow. Small 6, huh? 1977cc! I think it said it was a 3 seater, too. I wish they had a pic of the inside. I'd like to see that configuration.

The "cushion & tray" in the center was the 3rd seat. You could actually get a 3rd seat belt for it's use. Nothing special.

agree.gif All early cars were officially 3-seaters with special short seatbelts for the middle.

Yes, that car needs a lot of work. Many parts missing and a lot of the prototype parts have spray-over from a crappy respray.

But, it's still in much better condition than the other prototype.

sorry ... don't know that much about this car sad.gif

I've seen it about a month ago at the Stuttgart exhibition - in exactly the same condition as on the photo.
I asked the guy over there if he would open the hoods for me, because as a former Sporto owner I'd like to see the differences to the prototype, but this was a rather unfriendly guy that just said no! So, the photos I took just show the car from outside, just the way as on the sales ad ...

Well, i neither have a VIN, project number or any pictures, but i have been told that there was indeed another sport-o-matic prototype build back in the day.

It was probably crushed when production began.

Was this the 914-4 Sporto prototype ????
Niklas
I was in Stuttgart at the Stuttgart motor show and looked at the car.
It was not in a good shape. It had a "garage painting" and needed much work.
