got a wave and a smile from a fancy new 911 on the way home today. better than seeing your name in the phone book, i tell ya!

I don't have a fancy new 911 but I always wave to 914s. I was surprised when the first teener driver I waved to reciprocated. I wave w/o fail now. For some reason, the Boxster drivers I've waved at just looked at me as if I'm crazy. I don't even try with those guys anymore.

You guys in Kalifornia and West-Side Washington just live in a different culture. Over here in the Columbia Basin desert there are too few Porsches for us to be fickle about who were friendly with. We stick together be it a 993 or a 924 (cough). wink.gif I flash the lights at any P-car I see and get a wave almost every time*. Half the time they beat me to it. Heck, I get the thumbs up and wave from all the old Beetle and Ghia drivers too. This month I got the wave from a 912, a 928, and a babe in a 944 who I couldn't wave back at because I was in the middle of a shift and she caught my eye right as we passed. Most enthusiastic greeting I ever got was from a guy in a red 911 turbo w/ license plate 'XSIVSPD'. He seemed way too enthusiastic, but then again he was driving a 911 turbo. I'd be rather giddy too if it were me.

*Two local Boxster drivers are the exception. One male, one female - both young looking. Neither will give a passing glance. I don't care. They'll sell their Porches soon and move on to a new status car, and the Porsche population will step up in quality again.

i know what it is; i just need to drive around in the teener more!

Air Cooled ... Rules ! Those who have their nose-in-the air, just don't care!
I get the same reaction from some fellow motorcyclist ... go figure... you are right, they will eventually sell their rides... wavey.gif

In the 3.5 weeks of 914 ownership, I've gotten3 waves. 2 waved right away (944 turbo and Boxster, another was a bit delayed (996).

Not sure if I should even bother trying to wave at the Cayenne driving soccer moms though. I should do it anyway, might end up waving to a divorced hottie. I'm in the market for a sugar momma. biggrin.gif

While driving in town here a few months back in my 308, had a guy in a late model (also) Red 911 catch up to me, honk and wave......it's good to see fellow sports car folks respect each other no matter what our personal choices in car types are!!
SirAndy
i had a guy in a white pickup truck give me the thumbs up this morning on the bay-bridge. laugh.gif

but i also got a "hey, that's a cool car, what is it?" from 2 hispanic guys in a tricked out low-rider the other day.

During Memorial Day Weekend a few years ago, I was trying to make a left onto the main strip at Clearwater Beach, and a guy in a 993 stopped traffic for about 2 minutes until there was an opening in the far lane...When I finally had a chance to go, he leaned out the window and said, "nothing but Porsche!" aktion035.gif

Most of the canyon dancers wave here, even if just a nod. They'll also give you thumbs up if clear, or hand extended downward if accident or speed trap ahead. Got both yesterday from bikers. A6 or A8 (bad enough so I couldn't tell) over the side on Cold Creek and CHP radar site just over a hill rise on Mulholland Hwy.

We got's to stick together. I wave at everybody, even if it's just one finger.

still getting waves from most p-car drivers, and on a sunny day, most people in a vintage ragtop, too! and there was the nicely attractive woman in the cream 356... my, my. i forgot to tell my wife about the nice wave i got there. and eager, expectant, wave, at that. sigh...
Andyrew
I've only gotten waves in the 944 turbo..

Thats basically every 944 on the road. ocasionally a 911 waves.

Besides I dont drive on the main roads with the 914 anyways laugh.gif

Last weekend, I got yelled at by a kid. Hold me to slow down. I was doing 20mph. blink.gif

2 weekends ago, I got a wave from a guy in a 356 cab. I pulled in behind him at a light. He did a double take of the rearview mirror then waved. wavey.gif

a few weeks ago when i was sanding the metal on my hoodless and topless chassis in my driveway...a recycling guy drives by...stops...backs up, and says "thats a porsche, right?" i go "yep! 914!" then we waved and he drove off..so yeah..that was my first wave as a porsche owner, i was smiling the rest of the day haha
