My DE instructor, who also own a 914, remarked that my accelerator pedal was very stiff so I finally decided to replace that old accelerator cable. Wow, the car feel a lot faster, the pedal is easier to modulate and the engine even return faster to its idle speed. I should have done it a long time ago.

Had the same problem with my car a few months ago. I went off course three times at and autox because I overshot a cone. Come to find out my cable was sticking and was not allowing the carbs to close all the way.
Changed the cable, lift off the pedal and the car now slows down. Stupid Simple.

Brad replaced my worn out cable in the paddock at Reno last weekend. He used the Terrycable replacement. What a difference
Throttle is very snappy and responsive now.
It was sticking... and that ain't cool.
