Can you disconnect the oil pressure idiot light and use the same sender and wire on an oil pressure gauge? If so, what gauge will work? VDO?

Nope. The sender for the light is a spring-loaded switch. It is either disconnected (light out), or it is grounded (light on). The sender for the gauge has varying resistance depending on the pressure.

You can get a dual sender, but it is larger than stock and doesn't fit well in the stock location. That's where the relocation kit (AKA a grease-gun hose plus a couple of fittings plus a metal bracket) comes in handy. You need to run another wire for the gauge signal, unless you use the wire from the light's sender--in which case you lose the light.

Opps, I should have thought that one thru before I asked. Anyone have pictures of their setup?
