I have to remove both seats to ship the 914-6 conversion to Germany.
Has anyone ever done a thread on how to remove the seats?
I have never had a reason to do so. Now I do.
THANKS!

Pretty simple, really
Slide seat all the way forward, it will hit a stop
put a finger into the seat track
Don't remember which side, but ther is a spring strip in one channel.
push that up and move the seat forward again, it should drop off the rail
Good luck

Thanks Gary and Strudelwagen, but I am not finding some kind of tab.
I pushed the seat forward all the way, then backed it between clicks, then felt around on the inner rail and the outer rail. NOTHING.
This has everything to do with my lack of understanding, and nothing to do with your explanations. I just can't find any tab to push. So correct me here, please someone.
This is a 75 seat and frame.
Where should I be putting my fingers to find the tab? Mid seat on the outside rails nearest the door side of the seat?
I felt around and could not find anything, but I am really needing almost Braille directions. I am old and fat and have fat fingers. Just bending down over the seat is a stretch.
I am not sure where to feel it. Under the frame? inner? Outer frame?
Does ANYONE have a picture?
Thanks!
John

I'm pretty sure it is just up front, not so much a tab, just that the seat has a spring-type bar that you need to push up to clear off the rail. Then tilt the seat forward and remove.
Its not easy to explain (for me).

There is a flat tab in the door side rail of each seat. Slide your finger in and push up on this flat tab while pulling on the seat adjuster loop.

THANKS EVERYONE!
I must say I would have never found the tab if it was left up to me. I have a numb right index finger from blowing a disc out in 04, and my hand went right over the metal without finding it.
A set of pictures is worth a lot more than a numb hand.
I am very thankful for 914World! At least I can find it now.

A screw driver is easier than a finger!!! I just slide a long screw driver in the track, then I have two hands free to pull the seat out!

Once you find the flat spring, you won't believe how simple it is. Ten seconds to remove if your slow.

Thanks, Mepstein!
First I had to find my ass with both hands.
That took all morning!
I wrote up another thread late last night and forgot to click post.
Spent 40 minutes looking for it just now.
Never made it in.
So getting the seats out should be a piece of cake!

Do remember that a 1975 should have seat pressure switches in the seats for the "Fasten seat belt interlock" mechanism, so disconnect them before you yank the seat from the car.
I hope that helps.
