Anybody know if original 914-6 trailing arms different from 914-4 one's? Mechanic was surpised when doing my rear wheel bearings that the one's that came out were much bigger than 914's he ordered. he thinks I may have orig 914-6 trailing arms, or custom built one's to incorperate my 911 rear brakes. I'm learning new things every day.

My car is a 74, 2.0 that has been converted to a 2.7 six.

I just replaced one of my trailing arms on a factory 6 and I have not seen any difference between the 4 or the 6!

The Bearings are the same. You never know what a previous owner has done!!

Wierd, i'll try and get pics... Here's what I know, 911 rear brakes, with working parking brake, bearings that came out were about 1/2 inch bigger in diameter and wider than regular 914 one's. I'm going back tonight or tomorrow, it he does not have evething put back together i'll try and get some shots of the trailing arm assembly. If they did weld it together with 911 they did well, welds ect.

Sounds like you have the George Velios bearing carriers welded to the trailing arms. They came in two flavors, 911 SC and 930 Turbo. If the caliper is toward the front of the car it's SC and uses the +74,SC and Carrera bearing and brakes. The 930 has the caliper toward the rear of the car and uses Turbo parts.

Thanks John, smilie_pokal.gif
I was just there(at the shop), and yup, looks like the carriers were welded on, and my brakes are in the forward position... So mystery solved. clap56.gif
