As you can see, I wanted a 911S Targa real bad so I underlined the options I wanted. I was only 13 at the time.

late page.
I had just gone to Sebring 12 Hours and I really liked the 911's. Oh well, I got smarter later in life when I bought my 'Teener.

According to the CPI, overall prices went up 4.4x from 1972 to 2004. So, in today's dollars, a 914 w/ Appearance Group would be $18K, and a 911T would be $33K, and a top-of-the-line 911S Targa would be $46K. Just in case you ever wondered if car prices have risen faster than inflation, this should make it pretty obvious. Considering a super-cherry 914/4 could fetch no more than $10K today, and a '72 911S can't bring anything like $46K these days, they're also lousy "investments".
Not that I ever consider money and cars together, anyway. Buy 'em, use 'em, fix 'em up, enjoy 'em, move on. Price be damned, as long as I have the cash...

So if you were 13 in 1972, that would make you the same age as me. I also noticed a typo in that listing. I guess they didnt have proof readers back then. I will take a few of those LSD transmissions at that price.
