Hello,
I need to clean some internal engine components before I reinstall them.
For instance in the photo below the rocker arm has a dark ring on the inner surface, and the rocker arm shafts have some dark oil residue on them, what can I use to remove this staining from the surfaces.

I was going to try carb cleaner, any thoughts?

Carb cleaner works great. Simple Green for easier stuff. Scrubby brushes too! Soda blasting works wonders also.
