I'm doing a sideshifter conversion while the engine is out. Is there any reason not to powder coat the new, well, newer, shift rods?
clearance was the thing that popped in my head.

powdercoating the front rod could be a problem with the firewall bushing... that thing is tight as hell as it is...

you also couldn't coat the ends of the rods I don't think... too tight a fit...

if you just want to coat the main shaft part, of the rear rod, that will be fine, I would think... but not very effective to only coat about ~1/3 the total linkage... wink.gif

seriously, I thought about this before I did mine, and now I'm glad I decided not too... things are hard enough to fit together as is....

I think you would be just fine coating the entire assembly Sean.

I stripped, treated, and double-coat POR'ed mine. Looks as good as powdercoat (as long as you were thinking black), probably just as durable, and definitely thinner.
