Are these better than 911 M calipers?

there have been a lot of conversions about this upgrade.

Some like 'em others don't.
If you're gonna upgrade go big, otherwise stay where you are. In my opinion.

plan on having to dial in your bias for if you run them. NOT plug and play, at least to get any improvement.

Those are 1980's BMW 320i front calipers. painted yellow.
http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...ng=&org_string=
Front caliper = $46 x 2 = $92
Rebuild set - $15 x 3 + $30
Solid break lines $2.00 x 2 = $4.00
Machining of caliper if needed =$20.00
Total = $126- 146.
Oh yeah, yellow caliper paint + $10
Most find replacement of proportioning valve with a "T" yeilds a good balance. Otherwise, adjusting a bias is OK.
Other options are the Volvo caliper with larger surface area and 4 pistons. I have seen mixed information regarding need for machining to fit.
Or go with 911 front strut/rotor/caliper.
Either way, $250 for $150 and no more labor than putting in pads and kit with some paint seems high.

I added the bmw calipers to my 74 and couldn't be happier with the results. I can finally lock up my brakes and do not have to plan my stops 1/4 mile ahead. I know my old front calipers were not the best but the bmw calipers give me more confidence in stopping. I would have done it sooner if I knew the result were this good. I have not removed the proportioning valve yet, but the T fitting is on order from J West engineering and then I may add one of his adjustable proportioning valves.

I have the BMW upgrade also and I'm very pleased with the results, and my calipers are yellow. 76 2.0
