Full Version: Need Pictures: Seat Belt Warning Relay, 74 914

I am restoring a 74 914. The (a) PO cut and rewired the seat belt warning system so the relay (J34) would always act as if both seats (drivers and passengers) are occupied and both seat belts are buckled (engaged) at all times.

I have the factory wiring diagram for a 74 914 and although I understand the wiring logic, the actual wiring is less than logical. I need some pictures of the cable bundle running up from the center tunnel to the seat belt relay (under the passenger's seat) for a car in which the seat belt warning system has not been modified (works). Some up close shots would be great so I can see the color codes.

I have attached a picture of what I currently have (Yes, I know the relays are not inserted in the attached picture). Please send pictures to grotvik@sussmanshank.com.

Thank you!

Splice those two fat yellow wires together. Use a quality water-tight splice, unless your 914 doesn't leak. ... HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Oops, anyway.

That's all that is needed; leave the rest of the wires as they are and don't bother plugging in the relay. It's nothing but an annoyance and another potential failure point.
