After reading McMark's thread on his "Troublesome Pertronix Install', I decided to have a looksee under my cap and rotor. Here's what I saw. Anyone know what it is? Pertronix? Something else? I thought that my car was completely stock, but I think that this proves that it's not.

I've always had a really bad "stutter" at 4k rpms and the car hiccups a bit when coasting in gear (not sure if these two issues are related). I'm starting to wonder if the distributor is the source of the problem.

It's a Pertonix Ignitor. Usually they work or don't, so not my first guess on your running issues. Check out your trigger points.

If you pull it out of your distributor it should have a name brand on it. Mine looks similar (haven't looked at it in a while) but it is Compufire.
