I was confused for a bit also until I figured out it automatically captures your location. When you first visit, it will show the location (text banner) for ten minutes and after that just shows the red marker.

You got it. It just picks up on your address and coverts it to a location. I thought it was kind of cool, so figured I'd try putting it on the site. Pretty easy actually.

I just noticed that while I'm on the front page I can see 2 other people that are on at the same time.

The globe thinks I'm in a town called Wigan, its about 200 miles from here!

The globe thinks I live 2 towns over, 20 miles away, in a different zip code.

It's using locations based on IP addresses on your ISP, they're only going to be 'ballpark' locations...
