I don’t know, the air intake and engine access appears to be eliminated by the convertible top. And I guess as long as I’m being a wet blanket, I think the lack of a cut down windshield precludes it from being a Speedster.

I seem to remember that Beach Boys Racing in Venice, CA was selling a "Speedster" kit back when. I don't know if this is one or someon's homemade conversion.
It does look like a fun project, and it would be nice to know the history on this car.

There was a shop in Jax when I was there in 82-84 that was building them. He even had a little ad in VW&PORSCHE magazine back in the day.

A buddy of mine owns it, but has been MIA for the last few years and I another buddy (where the car is) has a small shop where it has been I'm not sure how many years.. He is going to try & find the owner & either own it, build it or sell it..

Dont quote me on this but it looks like a 5 rib bus trans. A lot of sand rail guys use them because they are stronger than a bug trans.
