What kind of flares are those?
Porsche Rescue
Come on JP, make up a good answer to Thomas's question! I can hardly wait.
Talk to Bruce about a deal with the "Fat Tire" ale people. I think ULF needs a Fat Tire logo on his flank.

Primer gray ones. laugh.gif
Actually, those are my "I wish I had John Kelly's talent" flares.
John Kelly
Hi JP,

Thanks for the kind words but you can still make hay with those flares. The metal is workable! Save all that hammer and dolly effort for after the major shaping is done. Maybe we need to have another flare party? Just don't know where I would find the time.

John www.ghiaspecialties.com
Porsche Rescue
What he means is, he created them himself with hammer and dolly. Just banged 'em out from the inside. No added metal. His primer work leaves a bit to be desired. Could have at least rounded out the masking line! I know the car would be faster if it was all one color, but then we wouldn't have anything to rib him about.

I gotta get them rears out bout another 3/4 inch to get cantilever slicks under there, so they'll prolly get uglier.....unless I seek professional help. Whatcha' doing this next winter? laugh.gif

You should'a listened to me and did'em wider to start with! Dad always said "If you don't have time to do it right the first time, where you going to find time to do it again?" biggrin.gif

I had hammered-out flares when Ulf was still in diapers.

Andrew
J P Stein
They are 225s. That pic makes em' look big, eh?
What appears to be the inside edge of the left side tire is actually the swingarm.....it's all in the lighting biggrin.gif

225 Hoosiers are a bit wider than .....regular 225s. They cheat.

BTW, Doug Skinner took the pics & I stolt em' off the Bird Board. cool.gif

Oh I can see the tire just fine.. I just didnt know if they where hoosers or not, cus they look so big. Ya, daddy has 225 hoosers on 9in's and they are mondo compared to mine..

I like putting them on JUST for fun!

biggrin.gif

If the pic works, it should have better lighting of the tire.

OK, the muffler tip biggrin.gif

Ulf is looking all bleached out....just like I was that night at work.

Next SCCA is 31 July
Next PCA is 8 Aug

That's too long to wait. 3 July at Bremerton...I'm agoin'.

That thing at the Historics is iffy...11 July.
Sounds like they don't have their stuff togther.
Nobody is set to do the work. The SCCA may come thru.....didn't sound all that promising when I asked
the HMFIC.

you need to get some spacers for the front, looks like you have another 2" on each side to go!

Andy:

All that flare in front is for clearance at large full lock and suspension compression.
I also raised the front wheel openings bout 3/4 inch.

I have enuff trouble muscling the steering. Spacers would make it tougher..see "scrub radius" in your hot rod dictionary.I ain't as young as I used to be. sad.gif

Hi JP,

I am actually thinking about taking on a few flare projects. Give me a shout when you are thinking about it. If you remove all the paint inside and out 9a big job), I could do the major stretching and let you finish off the smoothing part. You could tell me what your budget is and I could do as much as possible for that amount. The major stretching takes less time than all the smoothing, so that's a good way to save a few bucks.

The results are up.......here's the top 20.....woulda, coulda, shoulda.....I hosed up my 3rd run. Damn near blew thru the back side of the East sweeper...I came in a *bit* blink.gif hot. By the time I gathered it up....at least a second down the tubes.

Wats up, JP...

I was out at PIR on sunday didn't see ya though..Probably because i spent most of my time DROOLING over that Carrera GT wub.gif that showed up,cant believe that guy (whoever he was ) had big enough cajones to drive that thing on the track.
J P Stein
He has enuff $$$$ to take that thing on the track.
He also has an Enzo.
914momo
When's the next AX at PIR ?
boxstr
The guy with the Carrera GT and the Enzo, bought a 914 tub from me. Name is Page Stevens, Stevens Marine. Very nice guy, he also has a beautiful yellow 73 911 RS with a 3.6.
CCLINENZOGT
J P Stein
He's also has Jeff Gamroth building a 3.8L RSR, godknowswhatall, NOT CHEEP, 914 track car.
Your tub, Craig?
Porsche Rescue
Hey, I get some credit here (for bad luck)! It was my tub before it was Craig's. It is the car I bought to get the fresh 2.0 engine that is now in my orange car. I sold the rust-free roller to Craig. A week later the guy places an ad in the paper wanting a 914 body. Craig sells him the car for 3 times what he paid me! Timing is everything.

I have heard he is having Rothsport build a "Ginther" type street racer with a big six. Anyone seen it yet?
